PhotoReading: Triple Your Reading Speed (or More)

This is my review of PhotoReading, a smart system that will accelerate your reading speed like Neo in the Matrix.

I review a lot of revolutionary development products, and most of them you don’t hear about on Revolutionary Webinars because they aren’t good enough to recommend for serious developmental traction. PhotoReading is one that I have used for years that has helped me in reading over 4,000 books and tens of thousands of articles for my extensive research.

Before encountering PhotoReading, I already considered myself an avid reader, well-versed in classical word-by-word speed reading. But speed reading is actually a limited form of reading compared to PhotoReading, as you will discover. We are talking thousands and tens of thousands of words per minute (WPMs).

With PhotoReading your first run through a typical book takes about 5 minutes. In some cases you’ll stop there because you’ve extracted all the key ideas you wanted, and it wouldn’t be worthwhile to invest any more time in the book. In other situations you’ll continue making additional passes until you’ve squeezed as much juice out of the book as you’re going to get — that might take you as long as 2 hours total. With PhotoReading the amount of time you spend on each book is proportional to its value to you. The system will give you the tools to do this. I was quite impressed with how synergistically the various PhotoReading techniques work together — it’s very engaging and actually turns reading into enjoyable HyperLearning.

Why PhotoReading?

Here are some of the key benefits of PhotoReading — I’ve personally experienced all of these:

  • Read books at least 3 times faster. I’d say that’s the low end. Some books you’ll be able to read 10 times faster — or more.
  • Read more books. You can PhotoRead a lot more books than you can slow-read. This will expand your horizons, allowing you to explore subjects that you never had time to get into before.
  • Read ebooks faster. I’ve PhotoRead a number of ebooks. In some ways ebooks are easier than regular print books because it doesn’t take as much practice to turn the pages quickly.
  • Extract ideas more efficiently. PhotoReading’s nonlinear, multipass reading strategies allow you to extract the key ideas from a book without getting sidetracked by the fluff. In the personal development books I read, there’s usually a lot of fluff I don’t really need. I just want the core ideas.
  • Avoid reading lousy books. In just a few minutes, you’ll determine whether a book is worth reading — or discarding. This is great for when you visit a bookstore.
  • Improve your memory. Because you’re focused on idea extraction instead of scanning every word, you’ll retain more of what you read. I have much better recall of the books I PhotoRead vs. the books I slow-read, even years later. I think there are many reasons for this, but one of them is that when I’m PhotoReading, I’m concentrating on the ideas, not the words.
  • Enjoy reading more. PhotoReading keeps your mind fully engaged, so reading becomes much more stimulating. I must say it’s pretty nice to digest a whole book in a single reading session and then shelve it.

Since I first recommended PhotoReading to my clients and students in 2005, the feedback I’ve received from those who’ve completed the course has been overwhelmingly positive, especially from students and people who do a lot of research in their daily lives. PhotoReading enables them to consult many more outside sources in addition to getting through their usual materials more quickly. One suggestion for students is to PhotoRead all of your textbooks during your first week of classes — I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much more you learn and retain.

PhotoReading: Reading technology for the brain

The PhotoReading whole mind system can be summed up as a protocol for using the two powerful capabilities of the brain that you already possess: 1) vast nonconscious storage capacity, and 2) a processing mechanism capable of nonconsciously acquiring information at tremendously accelerated rates. Until the development of PhotoReading, few were able to show how to reliably use these capacities to produce consistent results.

PhotoReading instructors have worked for nearly two decades delivering powerful enhancements to reading speed and comprehension, while simultaneously ensuring a profound benefit in the lives of all who use PhotoReading. The consensus is clear: PhotoReading is not just about reading. It is about using the tremendous resources of your whole mind to achieve success in any area of life.

PhotoReading offers a broad spectrum of brain-compatible, accelerative learning tools to give the highest possible benefits for the greatest possible variety of individuals. In addition to improving reading speed and comprehension, PhotoReading has been shown to improve brain processing, visual processing, cognitive functioning, memory, creativity, problem solving, and intuition.

Does PhotoReading really work?

Since our inception, satisfaction in our trainings has been at 96% or greater, which means PhotoReading can work for everyone. Satisfaction with our self-study course has also been very high.

But why does it work? PhotoReading was developed by our team using proven teaching methodologies and an intense knowledge of how the brain works.

In 1986 Learning Strategies Corporation became licensed as a Private School by the Minnesota Department of Education. According to State Statutes reading improvement could only be taught by properly trained teachers at an institution licensed by the State. The licensure process included adopting sound business practices and submitting a complex and detailed curriculum document to be reviewed by State experts.

As a result, the foundation of PhotoReading is solid and satisfaction is high. That’s why we offer such a strong satisfaction guarantee.

In our determination to maintain high standards, we renew the license every year even though it is no longer required by State Statutes. (The program is now monitored by the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office.)

Anyone can learn to PhotoRead. Course participant ages range from 13 years to 96 years. No special abilities are required. In fact, a school psychologist reported that an autistic child naturally PhotoRead his math textbooks upside down and backwards before leaping to the head of his class in mathematics. PhotoReading is amazingly brain compatible. It clearly excels as the best first approach to all learning activities. Far more effective than the traditional start-and-slog strategy of engaging the limited conscious mind, PhotoReading is the 21st century way to capitalize on the information explosion we all face.

Since it took much less time than he would normally invest, he doubted he was fully prepared. During the exam, however, he was relaxed, confident, and maintained the “flow” state throughout. When he turned in his test, he felt anxious, not knowing what to expect, and not feeling all that good about what he had done. His exam came back a few days later covered with praises from his instructor. Comments included, “thorough reading and application,” “excellent,” “good summary,” and “very insightful.” The student was at first stunned. Soon his astonishment turned to pleasure. His new-found skills were with him to stay.

That afternoon, during a slow period of a Minnesota Vikings football game, he spontaneously imagined thoughts, ideas, concepts, principles, and theories about physics. Several days later, he told colleagues of his experience, one of whom was a physics expert. After quizzing the PhotoReader, the physics expert said that the PhotoReader, as a lay person, knew a heck of a lot about physics. He took 15 credit hours worth of exams in humanities, social sciences, and world religions, within one week. He had never attended a class in the subject matter on which he was tested. In order to graduate he had to pass these tests, so his motivation was high. He PhotoRead six books on each topic a couple of days before each exam. Not only did he pass and get 15 credit hours, but he got a B plus average on the exams. This score was higher than the average of the students who took the exams after attending a semester of classes. He is now using PhotoReading to earn a commission as an officer in the US Air Force.

A college senior used PhotoReading to prepare for final exams. As a senior working to secure a job for after graduation, he dropped his regular studies hoping to get caught up at the last minute. He phoned a PhotoReading coach at Learning Strategies Corporation in a panic the night before the exams. After the conversation, he got into a relaxed state and PhotoRead his class materials. He ate dinner, worked out, and went to bed relaxed. The next day he confidently took his exam and passed. PhotoReading put him at ease and allowed him to prepare mentally for the test.

She attributes the immediate comprehension of the material to having PhotoRead the handouts.

The president of a family trucking company attended an Executive MBA program at the pace of 14 credit hours a semester. This program was designed for executives and met one full day once each week. Customers Love PhotoReading

The customer wants me to know everything. “I spend a good deal of my time reading computer industry publications to keep current with new information, not to mention the reams of technical manuals for new products that are constantly being released to the market.”

“One customer requested that I take a look at one of their systems I had never seen. I had no experience whatsoever with the software. They wanted me to give it a try anyway, so I asked them for manuals and a brief description of the problem. After dropping 2000 pages of documentation in my lap, they chuckled and jokingly said, ‘Have it done in 30 minutes.’ I PhotoRead the documentation in 20 minutes, spent 10 minutes with the software program, and fixed the problem on the spot!
